Becca Senior Portrait | Daleville, Va

Hard to believe I started taking senior portraits nearly 5 years ago.  They have to be one of the most enjoyable things to shoot as every senior is different with different experiences and so many choices in front of them.

It took us nearly two months to get this shoot thanks to conflicting schedules and two weeks of rain.  When it was all said and done I think we ended up getting the perfect evening to make this shoot turn out beautiful.

Becca had no set goals with her senior portraits and thus gave me creative freedom to come up with anything I wanted.  We decided to do the shoot in Daleville on the Cherry Blossom trail and leverage the fall colors and sunset to create the backdrop.  Becca's mother showed pictures of a serious jaw surgery she had just a couple years ago to fix her smile and I think it was clearly worth it.  By the end of the shoot she was tired of showing us her beautiful smile and wanted a serious picture but it just didn't compare.

Shooting sports was a natural for me as I played soccer most of adolescent life and love to watch most any sporting event.  I tried playing baseball when I was about 6 and found it miserably boring.  Thus, the reason I played soccer.

All that said, I have grown more fond of baseball the past few years and have enjoyed pointing the lens at the field the last few months.  I'm still working on better understanding the nuances of the game but continue to enjoy getting the moment.

Garret Senior Portrait | Staunton, Va

This past Labor Day weekend I had the opportunity to shoot my second cousins' SENIOR PORTRAITS!  Lord, where has the time gone?!

At first I thought nothing of this, but as the day came it started to hit me that I am not the only one getting older!  Last time I took pictures of Garret he was 10 years old! (Added a couple of those below just to embarrass him!)

Needless to say, looking at the final images and the time spent with him, he has turned into a wonderful young adult with a world of options in front of him.  I know we are all looking forward to what he chooses to do these next couple of years and wish him the very best.

Crawford Wedding | Staunton, Va

A few weeks ago I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot a longtime family friends wedding in our hometown of Staunton, Va.  It was actually more of a family affair as the Bride had found family friends or friends to help with everything from the pictures and music to the preacher.

I met the Groom and Groomsmen on Sears Hill as he wanted the Brides hometown in the background.  We were able to leverage a wonderful look out over the city and the beautiful bridge over the railroad tracks that was constructed just a few years ago.  The ceremony was in the flower garden / back yard to the Woodrow Wilson Presidential House and Library.  Of course, being the middle of July we worried most about a scorching harsh sun but instead we had heavy cloud cover and 100% humidly.  Luckily for me Mary and Scott decided to do a first look and we were able to leverage the beautiful flower garden.  After the ceremony we went down a block to the beautiful Stonewall Jackson Hotel for the reception.
